If you love to make things and you like fire this is the class for you! Work with clay, making relief mosaics, figures and artifacts. Learn about a variety of surface treatments to add detail to your clay work such as burnishing, stamps, texture, glaze and masking. We will fire the work using the low fire technique called Raku, a process that brings bright metallic colors to your pieces. Build a small kiln and fire your work using raku glazes, horsehair, slip resist (naked raku), feathers and sawdust. All students will participate in the firings to their comfort level, every student that wishes to participate will be outfitted with appropriate safety attire.
A fee of $15 will be collected to buy glazes, but all other materials will be provided
