Celebrate the Center Week is Coming!

We’ve put together a whole week of 12 activities leading up to Celebrate the Center, and we want you to be there! Sunday 9/12

Monday 9/13

  • Health screenings by our personal trainers, 1-2pm and 5-6pm
  • Free community circuit training class with Cassie, 9:30-10:15am.
    Guests welcome! Call 412-828-8566 to register.
  • Touch-A-Truck Event, 4-7pm
    Stop by the Center to meet Ranger the bloodhound and Deputy Belback from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office! Plus get up close with Pleasant Valley 217 VFD’s fire engine; Parkview 218 VFD’s heavy rescue truck; Fox Chapel 157 VFD’s fire engine; and O’Hara Township’s police cruiser and highway mower.
  • Food truck night with Progression Bistro, 4-7pm
    Serving up porchetta sandwiches and some healthy salad and grain bowl options.

Tuesday 9/14

  • Food truck night with Haskel’s Delicatessen, 4-7pm
    Haskel’s Delicatessen is everything that’s good about Jewish deli. Coming from a chef who’s been eating matzoh balls and his grandmother’s baked goods since before he had teeth, Haskel’s is an act of love for Pittsburgh and its first knish vendor. Stop over for Reuben sandwiches, knishes, and more.
  • Ace Mobile Ax Throwing, 4-7pm
    Ace is bringing their enclosed, self contained, 13ft tall, 8ft wide by 24ft long, mobile unit to the Center, where one of their trained experts will safely set up and run the event. With two participants and one coach in the unit at a time, Ace will show you how to throw safely and how to score some points.

Wednesday 9/15

  • Evening open house for our after school program families
  • Whiskey tasting on the patio with McLaughlin Distillery, 5:30-7:30pm *must be 21+
    McLaughlin Distillery is a small batch, craft distillery located in Sewickley that specializes in bourbon, whiskey and naturally flavored moonshines. Each spirit is handcrafted to perfection. They’ll bring a variety of spirits, including fall-flavored moonshines to our tasting event. $20 donation suggested.

Thursday 9/16

  • Food truck night with Mr. Bulgogi Korean BBQ, 4-7pm
    Grab dinner at the Center from Mr. Bulgogi Korean BBQ – Pittsburgh’s official Korean food truck. Stop over for their authentic Korean BBQs – bulgogi, chicken, gochujang pork, and tofu with affordable prices.
  • Celebrate The Center Car Cruise, 4pm to 7pm
    We’ve put out a call for cool cars to join us for our first ever Celebrate the Center Car Cruise!  Do you have a cool car?  Know someone who does?  Email nfostrowski@lauriannwestcc.org to save a spot and come to the Center and show it off!  

Friday 9/17

  • Celebrate the Center curbside dinners to-go, 4-6pm
    We understand that not everybody may be comfortable attending our traditional in-person event. This year, in addition to our in-person party we are also offering a Celebrate the Center dinner to-go for $100. Dinner for four includes pan fried chicken with a lemon dipping sauce on the side, roasted rosemary potatoes, harvest salad with cranberries and sunflower seeds, rolls with butter, and cocoa dusted brownies.
  • COVID Vaccine clinic and blood pressure check by UPMC Health Plan, 4-6pm
    Vaccine clinic is in our community room + visit the UPMC RV in our parking lot for goodies. This includes booster shots for eligible groups. For This clinic will offer the Pfizer vaccine, which is recommended for those 12 and older and the J&J vaccine, which is recommended for those 18 and older. Saturday 9/18

  • Celebrate the Center, 7-10pm
    Celebrate the Center is back! Get ready to join us on the patio for some great food, cold drinks, and live music. Safety is our top priority, so the event will be held outdoors on our tented patio. All food offerings will be pre-portioned and passed by masked and gloved waitstaff. While it will look different, it will still be a beautiful and fun evening!
