Always wanted to have your own private class for just you and your friends? Now you can!

This is a great option to get back into group ex with a group of people that you’re comfortable with. We’ll work with you to schedule your own custom group ex class for groups of 5-8 people that you coordinate. \

We were thrilled to welcome students back to the Community Center through our Arts & Enrichment after school program. It doesn’t look the same as last year, but we’re proud to be able to still offer this important service for families in our community who need child care.

The kids in the after school program have a request!
If you have a working sewing machine that you don’t need anymore, they would love to have it. Unfortunately, the two machines in our Maker Studio are out of commission, but our little makers are still eager to do sewing projects. Contact us to contribute a sewing machine.

From the Fox Chapel Area High School Counseling Department:

With school back in session, our children’s well being is on everyone’s mind. You and your child might benefit from taking a look at this TedX Talk, “Growing Up Stressed or Growing Up Mindful”, by Christopher Willard to learn how simple mindfulness exercises not only physically change our brain for the better, but also help our response to stress.

After watching the video, ask your child to take a minute to think about and reflect on the following questions:

  • Did any of the points he spoke about resonate with you?
  • How do you feel when you are stressed? Does your mind go to the future or to the past?  How can being mindful and present help you?
  • How are you going to remember the STOP metaphor? (Stop, Take a Breath, Observe, Plan/Proceed)

“Sometimes, you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be.” – Unknown

As we wrap up an unconventional but successful summer, we’re reminded once again of how lucky we are to have such a generous, kind, and caring community. Fall will bring its own challenges, but we know we’ll be able to take them on with your help. To our members and donors, thank you for being there for us – we couldn’t do this work without you!
