Through generous contributions made by our members and community, we can provide financial assistance so that everyone can have access to their Community Center. Applications are available on our website.

The Community Center is excited to be a collection site for the Foster Love Project’s annual bag drive from November 16 – December 16!

Each year, more than 15,000 kids are served through the foster care system in Pennsylvania alone. Many of these kids are taken to a foster home with no belongings or a few items thrown into a trash bag. Foster Love Project provides a bag of goods to be given to kids at time of transition. Please consider putting a bag together and dropping it off at the collection box in our lobby by December 16. Learn more about the bag drive.

From the Fox Chapel Area High School Counseling Department:

Breathing is one of the most powerful tools we have to fight off stress, anger and some negative emotions. By using our breath, we can calm our minds, take a pause, and think about how to proceed.  Take the time to practice the 4-4-8 breathing and 5 fingered breathing techniques by watching this video

Some questions to think about after the video:

  • How did it feel to pause for a moment and keep quiet?
  • How can you plan to use the breathing exercises in the future?
  • If you mind wandered while trying to “keep quiet,” what did you think about?
  • How did you refocus your mind and “keep still?”

“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.” – Amit Ray

We are so grateful for you, our members and supporters. Although this is a hard time for everyone, your messages remind us that the Center is still a place that unites and inspires our community.

“Everyone is so friendly – instructors, front desk people, members! It truly has become a ‘Community Center’. We have been very impressed by this aspect of Community Center. We love that all family members can use the Center. We also appreciate the excellent way the Center has met the COVID challenge – so flexible, so customer-service driven.” – Community Center member
