From the Fox Chapel Area High School Counseling Department:
Breathing is one of the most powerful tools we have to fight off stress, anger and some negative emotions. By using our breath, we can calm our minds, take a pause, and think about how to proceed. Take the time to practice the 4-4-8 breathing and 5 fingered breathing techniques by watching this video.
Some questions to think about after the video:
- How did it feel to pause for a moment and keep quiet?
- How can you plan to use the breathing exercises in the future?
- If you mind wandered while trying to “keep quiet,” what did you think about?
- How did you refocus your mind and “keep still?”
“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.” – Amit Ray
