Stage Right to Hold Auditions for The 25th Annul Putnam County Spelling Bee

Stage Right in O’Hara Township is announcing a casting call for 5 men and 5 women from 18 to 50 for their Fall production. Auditions will be held at Boyd Community Center, 1220 Powers Run Rd., Pittsburgh, 15238 on Sunday, July 19 from 7–9 p.m. and Monday, July 20 from 7–9 p.m.
Actors interested in auditioning should email Bill Ivins at stagerightboyd1@gmail.com or call 412-228-0566 to schedule an audition appointment, although walk-ins are also welcome.
Please prepare the following for auditions:
1. a two minute monologue
2. 32 bars of a song (please bring sheet music for the accompanist, or an MP3 backing track)
3. a headshot and résumé.
 (If you don’t have a headshot and resume, don’t worry – we can take your photo and you can fill in your experience on our audition form.)
The show is scheduled as the final  production in the old Gymnatorium at Boyd, September 10–12 & 17–19, and will be directed by Bill Ivins.
Synopsis:
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious musical which revolves around several socially awkward youngsters finding joy, heartache and a purpose in competing at the regional spelling bee features a score by William Finn and a book by Rachel Sheinkin.
We are also looking for musicians for the pit!

About rehearsals:
The first read-through is tentively scheduled for Monday, July 27. Rehearsals will be scheduled according to actors availability, and generally run Monday thru Thursday evenings from 7–9 p.m. Every effort will be made to create rehearsal schedules which work around actors prior commitments and typically will allow for smaller roles to not be at all rehearsals.

Just Added! End of Summer Camps with Lab Ratz!

Boyd Community Center is very excited to announce the addition of three new camps to our August offerings! All three camps are offered in partnership with the Lab Ratz Science Club and are recommended for children who will be entering grades 1-7 this fall.

Two half-day camps are scheduled for the week of August 17 and one half-day camp will occur the week of August 24. The fun includes:

August 17-21

Bio-Life at the Extremes (9:00 AM-Noon)

Dissect, culture bacteria, clone plants and so much more – as we take life to the extreme!

Physics: Riding the Gravitational Waves (12:30-3:30 PM)

Build rockets and machines as we take a close look at gravity and black holes!

August 24-28

Alien Investigation (9:00 AM-Noon)

Join us as we take a closer look at what life forms could possibly survive outside the Earth. In this half-day program we will explore forensic science, as we investigate a UFO crash site!
