Free Virtual Workshop on Chronic Pain

Thursday, February 18 at 10:30 a.m.
Everyone has pain but chronic pain can affect our daily life.  How to deal with this debilitating condition will be explored. Symptoms, causes, diagnosis and treatment will be discussed with time at the end for questions. Anyone who suffers from this condition will learn about self-management and safe exercise. This is a free virtual session and a link will be sent before the session. Email Jason Fate at jfate@lauriannwestcc.org to register.

About the speaker:
Pam Nutt, MOT, OTR/L is an Outpatient Occupational Therapist, specializing in Chronic Pain Management. She currently practices at CRS Harmarville, CRS McCandless, and the CRS Rooney Sports Complex. Pam has more than eight years of clinical experience across the continuum of care and is currently an adjunct instructor and certified fieldwork educator for the University of Pittsburgh.

Fitness Center Reminders

More and more people have been coming back to the fitness center, which we love! To make sure that everyone has a safe and positive experience, we want to remind everyone of a few important policies:

  • In order to adhere to capacity limits, we ask members to keep their workouts to 90 minutes so that everyone has an opportunity to get in.
  • While we sanitize throughout the day, please wipe down equipment after use.
  • Masks are still required to be worn by everyone at all times.
  • Children under 14 are not permitted in the fitness center at any time.

New Youth Group Exercise Class

Tuesdays from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Our new kids group fitness class was full last week and everyone had a blast! Please be sure to call our welcome desk on Tuesday morning at 412-828-8566 to grab a spot in the next class.

Reminders:
Ages 8-13. Masks required at all times. All participants must be family fitness members. A parent must come in to the Center for drop-off/pickup. Please send a water bottle!

Coach Needed for Girls on the Run Program

The Community Center will be a site for the upcoming season of Girls on the Run. This is an incredible program that inspires girls to build confidence and foster care for themselves and others. Coaches use physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional, and physical skills in every girl while encouraging healthy habits for life. The program is still in need of an assistant coach to attend practices 1-2x a week for 8 weeks. Click here to learn more.

Thank You!

We’re so grateful to everyone who chose to celebrate Valentine’s Day by supporting the Community Center last Saturday! Like everything else this year, the holiday wasn’t quite the same. But we hope that everyone felt good knowing that their contribution is doing good things for our community. Many thanks, as well, to the sponsor of our Valentine’s Day celebration, Jane Siddons Herrmann of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices — The Preferred Realty.
