In celebration of World Art Day, we’re celebrating the imagination that filled our Arts & Enrichment After School program. Throughout March, they experimented with new techniques and mediums—3D wreaths, dioramas, straw paintings, apple prints, block and screen printing, mosaic self‑portraits inspired by Picasso, and classic painting.
Rooted in themes of Kindness and Love, their work grew into a month-long creative journey showcased beautifully in last week’s vibrant Art Show.
A huge round of applause to our students and the dedicated instructors who encouraged them to express themselves in bold, imaginative ways.
Join us for our next adult board game night on Friday, May 1.
Lauri Ann West Community Center will offer 20+ board games to choose from, or you can bring your favorite from home. Bring your friends or find some here while playing classics such as Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, or Scrabble. Individual tables will be set up for small game play. Feel free to bring your favorite adult beverage and snacks.
This is an 18+ adult event open to all neighbors. Registration is recommended to help us plan for your arrival. See LauriAnnWestCC.org/programs/speakerseries-events.com
We’re proud to recognize Saturday’s World Parkinson’s Day as part of Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month by launching our brand‑new Parkinson’s Fitness Program!
Our Personal Trainer and Group‑Ex Instructor @amyzr76 Amy Roenker recently earned certification in PWR!Moves training—a leading exercise approach designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s.
Yesterday, Amy led two energized classes to officially kick off the program. Special thanks to Gina Johnson for volunteering to assist Amy as an extra set of hands and eyes during the class. This inaugural session runs through the end of May, giving participants a powerful start on their fitness journey.
A summer session will be announced in a few weeks—stay tuned!

Message from the Board of Directors . . .
Mark Rothert has completed his tenure as Executive Director with Lauri Ann West Community Center. We are grateful for his dedication to the organization, including his leadership as Executive Director and his earlier contributions as a member of the Board of Directors. We wish him the very best.
As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, the Lauri Ann West Community Center is stronger than ever. What started as a hopeful idea has grown into a vibrant community hub and true neighborhood asset – now supporting more than 4,000 active fitness members, a state-certified after-school program in high demand, and a welcoming gathering place with more than 130,000 visitors each year. Thanks to strong community support and careful planning, we are financially stable and able to maintain our facilities that bring people together for activity, learning, and connections.
With our search for a new Executive Director underway, we are excited about the opportunities ahead. Our dedicated and highly skilled team remains fully committed to serving our community and guiding the next decade of growth and community impact. Together, we will continue to build connections, expand horizons, and impact lives by providing a safe place for all to learn, play, and grow.
