We unite and
inspire community.
The Lauri Ann West Community Center builds connections, expands horizons and impacts lives by providing a safe place for all to learn, play and grow.
Message from the Board of Directors …
We are excited to introduce our new Executive Director, Heidi Ward, MBA. Heidi brings her outgoing energy and enthusiasm for engaging with our community and building connections to our community center on July 13, 2026. To learn more about Heidi, click here.
As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, the Lauri Ann West Community Center is stronger than ever. What started as a hopeful idea has grown into a vibrant community hub and true neighborhood asset – now supporting more than 4,000 active fitness members, a state-certified after-school program in high demand, and a welcoming gathering place with more than 130,000 visitors each year. Thanks to strong community support and careful planning, we are financially stable and able to maintain our facilities that bring people together for activity, learning, and connections.
Stay Connected With Us on Social Media.
Attention lifters: we have a new bar in the fitness center for you to try!

Did you know Lauri Ann West Community Center offers group exercise classes for adults with Parkinson`s disease? Trainer Amy Roenker leads the class with the intention of “making function exercise”, keeping people moving and doing more of what they want to do.
Last week, participants received green therabands to take home for exercises and a warm-up at the start of class. Amy utilizes other tools, too, like stomping on balls, rolling yoga balls on the walls and floor, using them for supported squats, and boxing.
The participants value their privacy as they fight the effects of PD, but they are a bonded source of support and encouragement to each other!
Thank you to the Jim and Shirley Weber Fund that supports the Parkinson`s Fitness Program.
If you or someone you know might be interested in taking classes, contact us!

Special thanks to Lucy, Michelle, Nicholas, and their pups from Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group for visiting us last week!
As volunteers, they demonstrated and talked with our summer campers about safety measures to take when lost in the woods:
*Always tell someone where you are going, and don`t go alone.
*If you are ever lost - find a tree and stay there. It`s best to be near an open area so you are easier to find.
*Other tips were given, like carrying a whistle, wearing vibrant colors, not depleting your energy by running, and carrying a big trash bag with you for shelter.

We had such a fabulous turnout for Mah Jongg Open-Play yesterday! Thank you to everyone who signed up. Next week, we will add more tables so more friends can join.
Reminder: All are welcome; you can come alone or with friends! Please register in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Mah Jongg Open-Play meets on Tuesdays at 2:00pm in the Alexander Family Community Room throughout July.
Bring your Mahjong set if you have one - our supply is limited - and borrow one of our extra cards if needed.

Last Wednesday, our Summer Campers were visited by the North Hills Special Response Team: Sgt. Ian Hill, Chief Jay Davis, Dpt. Chief Pat Goodman, Wes Semple (EMT and vehicle driver), Officer Renee Maddex, and social worker for O`Hara Township, Kayla Somerville.
Sgt. Hill gave a presentation on their work, showcasing some of the gear and tools they use. Then, campers were led outside for a tour of their vehicle.
The team also gave out temporary tattoos, pin badges, and bracelets.
Special thanks to Township of O`Hara and the North Hills Special Response Team. We appreciate all you do and for taking the time to come visit us for a couple of hours!
