Emerick Buccigrossi is our August Member of the Month!
You might recognize him driving to Lauri Ann West Community Center in his bright red sports car, on his way to Silver Sneakers exercise classes.
At 92 years old, Emerick enjoys attending Silver Sneakers and walking to stay active.
His daughter, Dana West, and her husband Steve West are glad that Emerick has a place to come every week that makes him feel good. Emerick also stays busy with his grandson, Cole West, who just started his Sophomore year of high school. They both like to build Legos together. Emerick has a growing collection of Lego cars he has built.
Emerick was very gracious to be chosen for August Member of the month, and staff and members had only positive things to say about him!

We had our last installment of the Summer Wine Wednesday Concert Series this past Wednesday evening.
Devin Russian, who was the main act, mixed covers and sing-alongs with his original songs. @russiandevin Devin Russian
Patrick Kletzing was the opening artist.
Zbigniew Konewka, who has provided sound support for all of the Wine Wednesdays, performed after. He even included a tribute to Dolly Parton.

According to an article in the Los Angeles Times, a study done in 1990 showed adults ages 86-96 could still have major strength, mobility, and balance gains.
Whether it`s through individual exercise in our fitness center, or our group exercise classes like Silver Sneakers, we care about this age population staying healthy! You belong here, at Lauri Ann West Community Center.

Donate your old sneakers to Fox Chapel Garden Club! There are two collection boxes in our front lobby.
*Please refrain from donating cleats.
Your old sneakers will be recycled and used to build tennis courts, playgrounds, and running tracks!
Collection ends September 30th.

The Fitness Center Refresh is almost ready!
Our Center fully reopens tomorrow (Saturday) at 7:00 am.
What a smooth process!
A special thank you to the partners who helped make this refresh possible: Advantage Sport and Fitness for their help in coordinating the project; Ecore Athletic Flooring; Rossman Hensley Painting, who brought in Catello Painting, Inc.; Elegant Enclosures Glass and Mirror; Haynes Contracting for the floor installation; and fitness member Brad Harrison with E.H. Schwab for the beautiful, partly donated artwork.
Each partner worked seamlessly alongside the others to keep the project moving forward.
We also want to recognize our Board for their thoughtful financial planning and steadfast support of this project, with special thanks to former Board member Andy Trageser for his leadership in helping to bring this vision to life.
Last, but certainly not least, thanks to our staff!
