Since graduating, she has worked in the events industry, but is now very happy to return to her passion for nonprofit work here at Lauri Ann West Community Center! In her free time, Kara enjoys cooking, crafting, and having friends over at her home in Southside Slopes.

Big cheers for Dan Stern, (pictured with Membership Manager Jason Lai), our March Member of the Month!
If you’ve ever walked into the fitness center and seen someone with a spring in his step during sets, that was probably Dan —bringing Zumba spirit to every lift.
He snagged a cool Lauri Ann West Community Center workout towel as his prize.
Thanks for bringing your energy, Dan.
We kicked it old school last week — and it was a total vibe!
Our very first throwback dance‑aerobics class brought 45 enthusiastic participants together for a high‑energy blast from the past. Four powerhouse instructors tag‑teamed to keep the room buzzing with nonstop movement, music, and smiles.
This retro workout isn’t a one‑time thing. Catch our next one on Thursday, April 30 in place of Zumba. Sign-ups will be available on April 28, beginning at 6:00am on the MindBody app.
Message from the Board of Directors . . .
Mark Rothert has completed his tenure as Executive Director with Lauri Ann West Community Center. We are grateful for his dedication to the organization, including his leadership as Executive Director and his earlier contributions as a member of the Board of Directors. We wish him the very best.
As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, the Lauri Ann West Community Center is stronger than ever. What started as a hopeful idea has grown into a vibrant community hub and true neighborhood asset – now supporting more than 4,000 active fitness members, a state-certified after-school program in high demand, and a welcoming gathering place with more than 130,000 visitors each year. Thanks to strong community support and careful planning, we are financially stable and able to maintain our facilities that bring people together for activity, learning, and connections.
With our search for a new Executive Director underway, we are excited about the opportunities ahead. Our dedicated and highly skilled team remains fully committed to serving our community and guiding the next decade of growth and community impact. Together, we will continue to build connections, expand horizons, and impact lives by providing a safe place for all to learn, play, and grow.
