Open Maker Studio

This Sunday, April 11 from 1-3pm

Drop your kids off for free instructor led projects in our Maker Studio! Our instructor will help kids work with all kinds of interesting found and recycled materials, real tools, and more. Children must be promptly picked up at 3pm. This is open to all children 5-11 years old on a Program & Fitness membership. Space is limited and registration is required by emailing jfate@lauriannwestcc.org.

UK International Soccer Camps

Half Day Camps for kids 4-6 and 7-10 of all skill levels

UK International professional coaches will come to the Center and focus on exciting games to build confidence and teach the fundamentals of soccer. Throughout the week, players will learn ball familiarization, small group dynamics, motor skill development, and social interaction, all with maximum participation in a fun-oriented environment. Price includes a shirt and certificate of participation. Learn more and register.

Workout of the Week

Try this “every minute on the minute” style workout as a core finisher to really get your abs fired up after a class or workout! Here’s how it works – at the start of each minute you complete the number of reps, and whatever time you have left in that minute is your rest time before doing the next exercise. Repeat 2-3 times total for a quick core circuit!

  • 1st minute: 30 seated twists (with or without weight)
  • 2nd minute: 15 reverse crunches
  • 3rd minute: 30 shoulder taps (in a high plank position or can lower to knees)
  • 4th minute: 20 bicycle crunches

*To make this workout more scaled towards a beginner level decrease the reps in each minute by 5-10. To make it more advanced try adding 10-15 reps.

Summer Camp Volunteer Opportunity

We’re looking for fun, energetic, and responsible volunteers to help with summer camps at the Community Center from June 7-August 16. This is a great way to earn those community service hours! Volunteers will work with children ages 3-12 and help with:

  • Games and activities
  • Snack and lunch times
  • Daily check-in/check-out
  • Room sanitizing throughout the day

Questions or to apply: Contact Jason Fate at 412-828-8566 ext. 103 or jfate@lauriannwestcc.org. Click here for an application.
