Happy New Year! Here is what’s happening at the Community Center the week of January 4:

  • Reopening reminders
  • Group ex updates
  • Mindfulness Moment
Reopening Reminders

We were so excited to welcome members back to the Community Center this morning! It was great to hear the music pumping from group ex class, see members checking into the fitness center, and welcome clients back to personal training. When you’re ready to come back, below are some reminders about our policies:

Hours:

Monday – Friday: 6:00am – 8:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am – 3:00pm
Sunday: 9:00am – 3:00pm

Cleaning:

We continue to sanitize the fitness center regularly throughout the day and the entire building is professionally cleaned each night. After every group ex class, all equipment is thoroughly cleaned by our staff before the next class comes in. As before, the fitness center will close from 12:00-12:30pm, Monday-Friday for deep cleaning.

Masks:

Masks are required to be worn by all people the entire time they are inside the Community Center. This includes when using cardio equipment, participating in group ex classes, personal training, and in open gym and rentals.

Fitness Center:

Reservations are not required, though the 20 person maximum capacity will still be enforced. A live look at our current capacity is available on our website. The walking track is open for all members.

Group Ex Updates

In-person group ex classes are back! We’re offering 30+ classes a week here at the Center. In addition, most of our classes have a virtual option. We have you covered whether you’re not comfortable coming into the building just yet or life is too hectic to make it in.

To join a virtual group ex class:

  • Register for your class in Mindbody as you’ve always done.
  • Registration closes 30 minutes before class starts.
  • Check your email for the live stream link 30 minutes before class starts.
  • Log in to the class using your usual Mindbody account.
  • Send us an email or check these instructions if you have any trouble.

Pop Up Essentrics Classes:

Carolyn is back with more Pop-Up Essentrics classes in addition to her weekly schedule. Mark your calendar for her extra classes on these dates: January 5 at 8:30am, January 12 at 8:30am, January 19 at 8:30am, and January 22 at 12:00pm.

From the Fox Chapel Area High School Counseling Department:

This week is about learning to change our perspectives. Think of something for which you’re ungrateful – maybe a job, relationship, or financial situation, which would normally cause you to feel anger, resentment, or frustration.

Now think of as many things as possible that are good about it – things that are hidden lessons or silver linings. For example, the job we dislike gives us the money to support our family. The trick is to develop increased awareness of the lessons to be learned and to find our personal strengths hidden within life’s challenges. This will help us to develop gratitude even within our difficulties.

We all experience challenges during our life and if we can recognize these as opportunities to learn valuable lessons, it will make us stronger. It can be difficult at times to find something in our challenges to be grateful for, but the reward when we do is invaluable, since the expression of gratitude builds exponentially. Actively and mindfully strengthening our gratitude ‘muscle’ means it will become increasingly easier over time, until we will begin to naturally look at challenges with a fresh perspective.

We want to make sure that you’re always getting the best out of our membership.
