Lindy Hop

Ages: 12-18
Begins: Thurs., Sept. 15
Meets: Thursdays, 6:30-7:30pm for 6 weeks
$120 ($140 non-members)

Learn the high-spirited, social dance known as Lindy Hop during this 6-week series! Lindy Hop is the original swing dance, and today is danced all around the world! During this series you’ll learn the basic rhythms, movements, and partnering technique of Lindy Hop, with the goal of teaching you how to dance socially. No dance experience or partner required – we’ll rotate partners throughout the class.

About the instructors:

Val Kutchko
Val Kutchko (they/them & she/her) has been teaching Lindy Hop since 2016 and has won competitions at national events including Dayton Swing Smackdown, Rocktober, and Second City Swingout.  Val dances follow and lead roles, finding joy in expressing themself through both. As a dancer and instructor, she emphasizes comfort, communication between partners, and confidence.

Doug Bae
Doug Bae (he/him) has been traveling across the country learning, competing, and teaching Lindy Hop since 2015. He organizes PittStop, an annual event that draws in dancers from across the country, and also for the Pittsburgh Swing Dance Community, hosting regular Lindy Hop lessons and dances across the city. Doug teaches multiple styles in the swing dance family and continually strives to share his passion for dance with those around him.
