Group Ex Schedule Announcements

The Lauri Ann West Community Center would like to make our members aware of several changes to our June Group Ex schedule beginning Monday, June 20.

Changes at a Glance:

  • HardCORE, 5:45-6:15pm with Amy is being replaced with Arms & Abs. (Amy will also instruct Arms & Abs.)
  • Zumba, 6-7pm in the gym with Lin will not be available Monday, June 20. (The class will return Monday, June 27.)
  • An additional Cardio Kickboxing with Ivan will be available 6-7pm Monday, June 20 in the gym.

Reserve your spot in Mindbody (app) starting at midnight two days before the start of your live or virtual class. Registration closes 30 minutes before the start of each class.


Spaces Still Remain for Specialty Camps

Half-day specialty camps offer unique experiences for unique interests led by our trusted community partners with topics in performing arts, ballet, chemistry, robots, outdoor adventure, medical care, printmaking, volleyball and more.

These week-long camps meet conveniently in the mornings or afternoons.

June 27-July1:
Gemini Theater (ages 7-11); 1-4pm

July 5-8:
Volleyball Camp (grades 5-8); 1-4pm

July 18-22:
Red Hot Robots (ages 5-10); 9am-12pm

July 25-29:
Little Doctor School (ages 5-8); 1-4pm

Volleyball Camp (grades 5-8); 1-4pm

August 8-12:
Little Designer Camp: Printmaking (ages 7-11); 1-4pm

PBT: Fairies in Ballet (ages 4-7); 9-11am

East Coast Swing Workshop Offered June 25

Join instructor Lisa Tamres for an introduction to East Coast Swing (ECS) from 1-3pm Saturday, June 25.

This one-day workshop will cover the basics of this fun social dance including good leading and following dance techniques, along with several fun dance moves. Students will rotate partners during the workshop to share knowledge.

Lisa has been dancing and teaching various forms of Swing Dance for more than 30 years. She has also directed and performed with the Steel Town Stompers Lindy Hop Troupe from 2009- 2015.

Class is suitable for ages 13 & up. Cost is $35 ($45 non-members).

Youth Soccer Classes Begin July 12

Introduce your child to the exciting game of soccer while giving them a foundation to advance in the sport.

Soccer Shots at the Lauri Ann West Community Center teaches children fundamental soccer principles such as footwork, dribbling, teamwork and basic rules in a developmentally appropriate manner.

Six-week classes for children ages 2-5 begin Tuesday, July 12.

Soccer Shots Mini (ages 2-3)
Meets 12-12:30pm Tuesdays beginning July 12.

Patrick Lah Performs at Wine Wednesday June 29

Join family, friends, neighbors and co-workers on the Lauri Ann West Community Center’s Scott Family Patio 6-8pm Wednesday, June 29 for Wine Wednesday.

Bring your favorite wine or other adult beverage. Charcuterie boats and assorted appetizers will be available to purchase from Aspinwall Everyday Gourmet.

Music will be provided by vocalist and pianist Patrick Lah – playing jazz, pop, country and standards. Patrick studied classical music with pianist/musicologist Dr. Taras Filenko, and jazz with Duquesne University Jazz Piano professor Ron Bickel. Patrick also speaks on various topics, including anti-bullying and the challenges of living with autism.

Tables are sold out; however, guests can bring their own camp chairs.

The Classics Book Club is part of our Mind, Body & Spirit Collaborative series with Cooper-Siegel Community Library.

Get Involved! – O’Hara Township and Fox Chapel Borough Seeking Input for Long-Range Plan

O’Hara Township and Fox Chapel Borough are working together on an official long-range community plan to establish achievable goals and objectives for the long term.

Please join us in the coming months to share your ideas and respond to developing concepts as we build the joint long-range plan for O’Hara and Fox Chapel.
